I wanted to do something for myself and I decided at 45 years old I was done doing my eyeliner daily.  I love the "awake look" of having onliner on, but I was tired of the smeared not so great look. Somehow my perfect eyeliner in the morning would be a mess everyday after work.  Do I rub my eyes that much?!  So this is my adventure into permanent eyeliner.  I am glad I did it, it was a bit more then I was expecting so I wanted to share how it went for me.

After 1st session

Permanent eyeliner took 2 sessions for me.  The first session lasting over 3 hours, as it was done by a student training.  I am all about helping people along and was not against a student learning on me, so I did tell her to please take her time. My 2nd session was finished up by the owner so anything needing touched up was done by a professional.  Either way you can expect your session not to be quick and over with in 20 minutes. You will be in the chair for quite a long time.

2nd session went faster but was still a couple hours, my eyelids are pretty swollen up here but I am very excited that i am done and healing now.

Did it hurt? 

The #1 question.  Did it hurt to get done?  YES! 

You will not be thinking oh my god this is the most painful thing I have ever experienced but it is also not a joyful process to go through. Anesthetics were used of course but this is still a tattoo, on your eyelid, so I will not lie and say it was a super comfortable procedure. The added stress on top of getting a tattoo is the location. The needle is extremely close to your eyeball, this is not like getting an arm tattoo and you just get to watch it be done. If you think your tattoo is mostly going along the line of where you pull out your eyeliner and draw it across, you would be wrong!  

That is the one thing I did not realize, is that they need to get it into the eyelash line, so if you lift up your eyelid and look, that is where most of your color tattoo is going to be deposited, much more closer to my eyeball then I thought. The first part is the worst as they want to make some 'cuts' to get that numbing cream activated so they can start the procedure, after that you will be ok.  There will be times during that you will need numbing to be reapplied to be able to continue. She pretty much knew by my reactions when it was time for more numbing to be applied, and then I was able to relax at points as well.  The person whom finished my eyeliner was actually the owner and teaches the permanent eyeliner classes to students so I felt pretty confident in my finished look as I could tell she has done this many times before.
